Me: Before I get it for you, you need to give me a hug and say two nice things (a little game we play). Connor: Okay.
#1, I love you very much.So I have that going for me
#2, umm, hmmm... Your ears are straight!

Just in case you were wondering how Leslie and Mike are doing on their trip around the world, I thought I show you a recent picture they took while staying in the Seychelles.
Looks like the same ol' same ol' :)

We visited the Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose with my parents in September.
For those of you who haven't heard, Jennifer is pregnant and due at the beginning of Feb. And we found out that it is a girl! Connor has already made a name suggestion: "Monster Frederick". Ahhh, he's already starting to pick on his little sister.
Here's another Connor quote for the scrapbook. This started after a little mis-behaviour incident involving Connor's desire to walk at a particular point in time:
Me:Hey, buddy, when I ask you to do something, I need you to listen to me and not be goofy.Connor (said with two year old innocence and matter-of-fact-ness):Hey, Daddy, when I want to walk, all you need to do is put me down on the ground. It's not that hard.
We took another Labor Day Weekend backpacking trip, this time near Lake Tahoe, and had an excellent time. Much different than our Lake Edison trips in the past, but still tons of fun. A little less demanding on the body. Here are some pics:
Looks like Casey got a hold of our camera on 4th of July and started experimenting. Here's the collection.

Oh my it is hot here. And this thermometer is in the shade. Paso has been 111F for the past two days.
Before it becomes old news, I thought I'd post here that I have a new job! I left Symantec at the end of June where I've been for 8 years and started a new job at ExactBid.com with my friend and coworker Nate. No, we haven't moved or left the central coast. ExactBid created a satellite office in downtown SLO for Nate and I to work from. I'll still be programming, so don't worry about my nice monitor tan going away. But I will no longer be writing installers and instead doing some web development in ASP.NET. Something I've been looking to do for a long time.

We went camping at El Capitan Canyon for Father's Day and to kick off summer.

Leslie and Mike have posted a bunch more pictures of their journies around South Africa, this time with a bunch of shots of J-Bay
Two years ago on January 14th, Connor was born. How time flies!
2 year old Con man opening presents on his birthday morning.
Connor helped make his own birthday cake. What a big help!
Samantha (and the whole Papas family) came to help Connor celebrate his birthday. They both finally decided they could share the chair.
Jennifer and I can't believe it was two years ago!
Everyone got to make their own pizzas for dinner. Owen took the prize for Tallest Topping Tower, Samantha was the eXtreme pizza girl, and Connor worked out a 2 for 1 deal with Jennifer while making the pizza: 2 toppings on the pizza, 1 in my mouth.
Samantha, Connor, and Owen with bellys full of pizza and birthday cake.
Grandma and Grandpa came the weekend after to celebrate. Connor was thrilled as you can see from the grin.
The boys in the car on the way to see the snow.
Here I am, walking in the snow a the top of TV Tower Road. We had heard that you can drive up here, but it was a little sketchy doing it for the first time in snow and rain. The road was pretty beat up and washed out and the steep sides didn't help the enthusiasm of my passengers. But then we saw a Honda Civic plowing through the mud and thought we should probably suck it up.
From TV Tower Road looking down at the north end of Cuesta Grade with all of the snow. So cool.
I never thought I'd see the day, but it snowed here in Templeton, CA, and on much of the Central Coast. What a sight!
I decided to get us all in the winter/snow spirit with a well placed snowball.
Proof that it was actually sticking once it hit the ground.
We need to get this boy out more... an umbrella in the snow???
Of course, this being the California coast, the sun was soon to follow. I'm posting this from my laptop while sunning outside in shorts, a tshirt, and flip flops, sipping ice cold lemonade to cool me down ;)
I thought this was pretty neat:
Allows people to put a mark on a world map where they are.
I suggested this site to Leslie and Mike to create their own map for their world travels (you can make your map read only so that only you can add markers, but everyone else can view them).
Connor and his mates on surfari
We were able to feed the giraffes. And we saw the crooked neck giraffe.
Jennifer and Connor in front of the giraffes
Connor loved the elephants. We spent a lot of time just standing there and watching them.
